Customer comments on this selection. It's named the Beast for a reason! I had this item before but it was stolen from me. I tried using two other types of shingle removers and they made the job so much more labor intensive. No stores around here sold this malco tool but i was determined to find it regardless of price. I ordered two of them and sure enough they live up to their name! They are very heavy duty. With these tools and only two people doing the work, we did a 2-layer tear off of a hip roof that was about 13 square in only 4.5 hours, completely clean of all nails too!!! The tips do not dull. I have since ripped off about 70 square of shingles with minimal wear on the tool. I will only ever buy the Beast from Malco. The adjustable head does make a huge difference! Great Tool Worked along side others using straight edged tools....after a short period of time they wanted to use mine. With much less effort than my friends, lifted nails, staples, and three layers of old shingles. Even did a job on the ice and water--very difficult to remove underlayment after the others had given up on it. I would recommend this tool to anyone undertaking a major roof overhaul. We've bought 3 We first bought this tool for my father when he was planning a roofing job. When the project began they called to say what a great tool it was, so we ordered another. Now everyone we know who is working on their roof asks to borrow them. We've even bought a 3rd. Greatest thing since sliced bread! ok but not as easy as a regular roofing shovel...no leverage here is the issue the curve of the tool or lack there-of works against you. Shingle remover Definitely the best shingle remover on the market. Be prepared to replace the nuts on the bolts that hold the shovel to the handle with locking ones because the original ones will vibrate loose.
